Author Biography
Benjamin Franklin was one of America's most remarkable Founding Fathers, celebrated as a statesman, inventor, writer, and philosopher. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on January 17, 1706, he rose from humble beginnings as the son of a candlemaker to become one of the most influential figures of his era.
A largely self-educated man, Franklin became a successful printer and writer, gaining fame through his Poor Richard's Almanack. His insatiable curiosity led him to groundbreaking scientific experiments, most famously his exploration of electricity and the invention of the lightning rod. He also created practical innovations such as bifocals and the Franklin stove.
As a statesman, he helped draft the Declaration of Independence and secured France's vital alliance during the American Revolution. He later served as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention. Franklin died on April 17, 1790, leaving an enduring legacy as a symbol of American ingenuity and democracy.
